How to use Search Term Analyzer
Search for a keyword — Type any Etsy search phrase into the keyword field. As you type, you'll see suggestions from three sources: what's popular right now, your recent searches, and curated marketplace suggestions. Pick one or press Enter to search.
Get the big picture — The left column shows your keyword front and center, along with an image carousel of the top-selling listings for that term. Below that, six metric cards give you the snapshot: Search Volume, Competing Listings, Total Views, Competing Shops, Total Sales, and Total Revenue. This is your at-a-glance read on how hot the keyword is.
Check the Keyword Score — The Keyword Score gives you an overall rating of the opportunity. Below it, the Recommendation Score runs from 0 to 1 — the higher the score, the better the balance between buyer demand and competition. Think of it as a quick gut-check on whether the keyword is worth pursuing.
Study the pricing breakdown — A bar chart shows how listings are spread across six price ranges ($0–10, $10–25, $25–50, $50–100, $100–250, and $250+). This is where you spot pricing gaps. If everyone's clustered in the $10–25 range but nobody's at $50–100, that could be your opening.
Explore similar keywords — The right column shows up to 20 related keywords pulled from the tags on top-performing listings. Each one comes with Views, Competing Listings, Sales, Average Price, and a recommendation bar. Click the search icon next to any keyword to run a fresh analysis on it.
See what's already winning — The Top Listings table shows the ten highest-selling listings for your keyword, complete with product images, pricing, total sales, and how long they've been live. Click any row to open it in Listing Explorer and study what makes it work.
Copy and export — Grab individual keywords from the Similar Keywords table, copy them all at once, or export your entire search result to CSV for use in spreadsheets or other tools.
Come back anytime — Re-searching a keyword you've already looked up won't count against your usage limit. You can also share or bookmark any search with the deep link URL.
Key concepts
Search Volume
How much search traffic a keyword gets on Etsy, calculated from total views across all listings using that term. Higher search volume means more buyers are actively looking for it.
Competing Listings
The number of product listings actively competing for a keyword. More listings usually means more demand — but also more noise to cut through.
Competing Shops
How many unique sellers are offering products under a keyword. This tells you how crowded the field really is.
Total Views
The combined views across every listing using that keyword. A direct measure of buyer interest and demand.
Recommendation Score
A 0-to-1 score that weighs demand against competition. Higher means you've found a keyword where buyers are searching but sellers aren't oversaturating — exactly the kind of opportunity you want.
Pricing Breakdown
How listings are distributed across six price ranges. Use this to find the sweet spot for your pricing or identify underserved segments where you could stand out.
Tips & best practices
Lead with Recommendation Score. It's designed to surface keywords where demand is strong but competition is manageable — the best opportunities for new or growing listings.
Use the pricing breakdown to find gaps. If most listings cluster at one price point, there may be room to differentiate at a higher (or lower) tier.
Study the Top Listings. These sellers are winning for a reason. Look at how they price, what keywords they use, and how long their listings have been live.
Mine the similar keywords. If your main keyword is performing, the related terms with strong recommendation scores are natural next steps for expanding your reach.
Revisit keywords freely. Re-searching doesn't use your limit, so come back to track trends over time.
Common questions
Can I search the same keyword multiple times without using up my limit?
Yes. Re-searching a recent keyword is free. Come back as often as you like to check for changes or trends.
What if I need this data in a spreadsheet?
Hit the export button. You'll get a CSV with all the metrics, pricing breakdown, similar keywords, and top listings — ready to sort, filter, or combine however you need.
How are similar keywords determined?
They're pulled from the tags used on the top-performing listings for your search term. The table fills in progressively as the system analyzes listing data, so you may see it populate in real time.
Can I click through to a specific listing?
Absolutely. Click any row in the Top Listings table to open it in Listing Explorer, where you can dig into its tags, SEO scores, and full performance history.
What's the difference between Search Term Analyzer and Tag Analyzer?
Search Term Analyzer focuses on what buyers type into Etsy's search bar — search volume, competition, and pricing data for those terms. Tag Analyzer evaluates the tags sellers add to their listings, scoring each one for opportunity, demand, competition, and velocity. Both help you understand buyer intent, just from different angles.
